TILDA SWINTON THE NEW FACE OF NARS COSMETICS

Francois Nars, czar of his eponymous cosmetics company, has done a bang up job of picking the most flawlessly gorgeous and powerfully queenly women around as the faces of his campaigns. From Daphne Guinness to most recently Charlotte Rampling, Nars knows how to pick ‘em, a skill that continues to flourish with the announcement of Tilda Swinton as the face of their Spring 2015 collection.

Swinton, aside from being a devastating beauty and supreme acting talent, is a woman of many faces. From the White Witch of Narnia to David Bowie’s suburban wife from Hell to a 90 year old player in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, she is an actress who knows how to transform herself for a role. So it only seems logical that Swinton would lead a campaign built around 4 distinct character portraits, one for each of Nars’ new collections.

Sadly, the results of Nars’ picturesque make up on Tilda’s distinctive face will not be seen until this January, when the first batch of the new line is premiered. Nars will debut one a month until the full collection is available in April of 2015. Nars told Women’s Wear Daily that he chose Swinton because “as an actress brings such strong personality to the camera, and as a woman she lives the experience of transformation and expression.” If you need us, we’ll be watching We Need to Talk About Kevin and weeping at Tilda’s perfection until January.
