Some people find their first in their mid-20s, others sail through middle age without finding a single one.

And while we’ve been conditioned to think that silver tresses must be covered up, there’s a new wave of thinking surrounding grey hair and it’s now never been more in vogue to sport it.

From salt and pepper shades to root to tip variations, silver hair is everywhere this season so there’s never been a better time to abandon the bottle and embrace what nature intended.

Just take the Saint Laurent, Celine and Dolce and Gabbana Spring Summer 2015 ad campaigns as the perfect example.

French fashion house Celine have employed the tresses of American writer and minimalism devotee Joan Didion to front their latest campaign.

And the dynamic Italian duo Dolce and Gabbana feature a smattering of designer clad nannas in their Spring/Summer offering.

Model Daphne Selfe and actress Dame Helen Mirren are both perennial ambassadors for going grey. But that doesn’t mean the grey hair trend only concerns only the over 60s.

Even if you don’t have naturally grey hair, you can always fake it – you can easily tap into the trend in a way that suits your skin tone and style.

Go to your hairdresser and ask them to create a bespoke shade of grey for you.

Rihanna

Rihanna’s ombre take on the trend looks both elegant and edgy, proving that grey hair can work on someone in their 20s, just as well as someone who has earned their free bus pass.

Growing old gracefully has never sounded (or looked) so good.
