Take a look into two architects that have taken inspiration from their travels with key pieces that have been selected from their voyages, materials sourced locally from markets, antiques dealers or natural stone. These two different properties venture beyond the fabric.
The First belongs to Michel Perry, a shoe designer based in Paris. He has converted an 18th century Burgundy Chateau into a country retreat. Unlike most designers, instead of dressing up the Chateau he has decided to ‘undecorate’ the building to take a look at its raw beauty. He frames it's natural beauty by using rich materials sourced from the local Burgundy markets, creating a romantic, industrial vibe.

The second property is antique dealer Richard Shapiro’s. A Malibu beachfront retreat that he designed with his partner, jewellery designer Patricia Roach. His aim was to create “the look, age, and aura of a very old, windswept structure from the Mediterranean or the Aegean.” The property features many antique pieces including a 17th century walnut door from northern Italy, a fireplace from the 1600’s, a 4th century roman marble torso as well as with richly coloured Textiles from Iran and Turkey. The property includes a mix of styles from all over the world.
