We were used to John Galliano’s comings and goings at the most important fashion houses in the world, so his impressive comeback didn't come as a big surprise.
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, John is back with the New Year.
His new collection for the international firm Martin Margiela has excited both the public and the fashion industry alike and Galliano promises to continue with the high expectations that his audience has for him.
Always provocative, John Galliano has evolved throughout his career, rising to become one of the most valued designers in the world. Success was his hallmark, but the scandals hit the world of fashion, and his career, hard.
However, even when he looked buried by his controversial statements in 2011, he has risen up to bring us freshness, as he usually does, and also a touch of stunning elegance. To achieve his magical touch, Galliano has developed his qualities as a brilliant designer from the beginning. Let's review the top five of his unforgettable moments! Just incase you don’t remember them…

Starting with his first collection (above), from his graduation in 1984. He made the collection "Les Incroyables" as his final project in the St. Martin's School of Arts. This first step made clear his passion for the Napoleonic fashion trend. The collection, inspired by the French Revolution, shot to the top and helped Galliano to create his own firm.

The second most important moment of his career (above), was his entry into the Givenchy house as creative director. Many factors made this point a milestone in the history of fashion industry. Not only did Galliano became the first British designer at Givenchy, but the first ever British designer at French haute couture house. During this time, he fulfilled his dream and gave free rein to his imagination giving us unforgettable collections.
However, he showed us his real personality with his debut at Christian Dior. At the 50th anniversary of the house he presented a collection that honoured the history of Dior. It was an extrovert collection with a Maasai influence that made it new and lovely. With this international firm he achieved what many see as his third great moment: The Bal des Artistes. Who would forget this show? Full of sensuality mixed with a fresh air of madness. Galliano, wearing a bullfighter dress which will go down in history, surrounded himself with the top models of the moment, topping off this masterpiece of fashion.
Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Gisele Bundchen were just some of the names that paraded for those attending the show. There was a wide variety of dresses, always with a nod to the French couture that he represents so well and that always has defined Christian Dior.

The fourth moment could be no other than the release of his first menswear collection. We loved it! We found it fun and it delighted us with such beautiful models wearing lingerie of embroidery and lace ... We’d never seen anything like it… And we wanted more!
It was a parade in which we could imagine the creator with all sets. His seal was implicit on the show. Shorts, bold shirts, ripped jeans, wool hats ... Funny and really modern at the same time.

The fifth moment then has to be his return... and how we'd missed him! We waited in anticipation from the moment it came to light that Galliano began to work with Maison Margiela. Only few journalists and celebrities attended the event where photographs were prohibited, a prohibition that was immediately discarded…
All the expectation was on that moment. You can either love or hate John Galliano’s collection, there is no half words… And we love it. He has not disappointed on his return, on the contrary in fact, considering it so recently seemed that at 54 years old, Galliano would not bring freshness to the first row of fashion. But, yet again, he did.
