ALEXANDER MCQUEEN SPRING/SUMMER 2015

Naughty and Nice with a little Japanese inspiration, nobody does it better than Sarah Burton.
Karolin Walter and her noir beauty dominating the Spring/Summer campaign coupled with the awe inspiring Marc Quinn flower sculptures and black lacquered floor, the backdrop has been set for a very mysterious, coy yet threatening set of paradoxical fine garments this year, all very McQueen.
The collection focuses on oriental inspiration combined with the label’s usual risqué attitude and clean lines. Trompe l’oeil, graphic shots of red, blue and yellow on stark white dominated the menswear. Emulating a vibe of traditional Kabuki masks visiting 30th Century workwear, but Sarah Burton makes it all work.
This Spring/Summer all their females paint pretty pictures but with blood soaked daggers hidden behind their backs. Chiffon and diaphanous satin are mixed with leather and bold detailing. The message is very clear that Sarah Burton, albeit inspired heavily by her visit to Japan, is determined to not fit into any boxes this season, be it her play with opposite textures or PVC masks making an appearance with florals she makes sure that stereotypes aren’t part of her story.
